Our artists:
Natasja Mulder – Mozaïekatelier Colorito
As a child Natasja was fascinated by art, she drew hundreds of things: animals, nature and this with especially a lot of color.
Because art school was not considered full time, Natacha was forced to change directions.
But through her many travels throughout Europe, she came in contact with the art of mosaics. Natasja has a dream and her ambition is much higher than ordinary tile mosaic, she dreams of truly authentic Italian mosaic art.
At the art academy in Wilrijk she learned to cut with a special hammer and chisel, she learned to work with marble and Venetian glass the most durable and high-quality and beautiful materials with which she makes the most beautiful things.
Natacha she loves the beautiful Orsoni Smalti Veneziani (glass) and marble. Therefore, she traveled to Italy and went to learn the tricks of the trade herself under the guidance of Italian grandmasters. There she took several master classes with renowned mosaic artists such as Marco Mezzanotte, Dagmar Friedrich, Federica Casanova and Lucio Orsoni. Natasja her knowledge grows and grows, likewise her love for the craft, by combining technique and patience she creates beautiful art. Or better expressed her love for the profession that expresses itself in art! Click here to view her work.
John John Hoelen
John John is a permanent fixture in our gallery. We know him for his playful handling and meticulous work with trash. He spends hours sorting, flattening, cutting and pasting. Optimism and hope is the main theme in his work.
John plays with trash and makes it shine; he makes it immortal. Curious about what John brings to the table? Just stop by to take a look and convince yourself. Click here to view his work.
Ingrid Van Erwegen
A fantastic artist, unfortunately due to personal circumstances her work was not included in the exhibition. Nevertheless, we are very fond of Ingrid and are fans of her work! Click here to view her work.
Annette Defoort
Annette’s optimism and humor are reflected in her work. The ceramic sculpture constructed with care and in patches is typical Annette . Very recognizable and immortal. Annette is an icon in the world of ceramics. Click here to view her work.
Jimmy Groen
Jimmy Groen has a very eventful life behind him, everything that could be against him as a child was against him. All his creativity was suppressed until at some point the pent-up creativity exploded and he used pastels, watercolors, oils, mixed media and pencil to tell the world what he sees, what he feels and what he experiences.
Jimmy is a queer artist, through the upbringing he was forced to undergo he has learned to protect himself, he depicts this in his different identities, Alex and Tim drawing how he perceives, experiences the world and his surroundings.
In search of identity, boy girl, man woman Jimmy is a pioneer in portraying the queer identity of young children, he confronts gender norms and honors the inherent beauty of each child. Their eyes look at you intensely questioning and challenging, confident, sincere, honest, who am I and who are you, who are we? Click here to view his work.
Lennart Willems
Lennart is a sensitive poet. When the Nightjar Calls! Is a collection of poems with 52 poems about people on the edges of society in which everyone tries to survive in their own way. Lennart will read from one of his poetry collections during the vernissage.
Anita Fleerackers
Nature? Of course Nature! Nature has always been a source of inspiration for artists. For Anita, too, it is an inexhaustible source of her inspiration.
Feelings and characters
Feelings and characters, rendered minimalistically.
Over and over again, built by hand in different stages, waiting, compositions and balancing, over and over again. A sculpture must sit well because even if you put your finest color on it when firing, if the form is bad the beautiful color will not help.
Feeling materials, taking the time for this. I I call it respecting the clay, because when I work too fast the clay wraps itself up, disagrees and spits out its anger in a thousand pieces in the oven.
Beautiful colors. Pixelism!
Beautiful colors of nature in all seasons. Early in the morning, the freezing temperatures hanging in the air as the sun rises. It gives a prism to colors in the sky, or the sun, which tries to break through the nebula. The many shades of green in spring and the splendour of blossoms, summer by the sea, autumn with all shades of reddish-brown. Winter, a residual rose buried in the snow. Her paintings are memories, which, like photographs, contain thousands of pixels, built up by squares of about 1 cm by 1 cm. Pixelism! Labor-intensive but at the same time soothing, and unique.
