LilleFive young Lille artists are exhibiting their works at the library on the Kerkstraat in Lille until Saturday, Jan. 11, 2025. With the expo 2275: Young and Artistic, the city council wants to highlight local talent.

The expo 2275: Young and Artistic has officially opened and will be freely accessible during the opening hours of the Lille Library until Jan. 11. The exhibition is an initiative of the theme group Professional Artists.

Five young Lilian artists are participating in the expo, each with his or her own technique and style. “Stef Janssens creates comic strips and illustrations in his own recognizable style. He draws his designs with pencil on paper and then colors them digitally,” reads the organization. Besides drawing, history is his other great passion. This theme recurs as a thread throughout his works. At 19 years old, Tessa Renders is the youngest participant in the bibexpo. Tessa’s artworks are mainly paintings in which she uses different techniques, such as acrylic and oil paint on canvas, sometimes combined with gold leaf.”

Michèle, Marie and Evi

Michèle Voeten, in turn, creates designs for birth cards, wedding invitations and corporate logos as a graphic designer. Marie Van Den Bosch studies graphic arts in evening school. “By day, she works in an art store in Antwerp where she gains knowledge about different materials in an inspiring environment. She is currently experimenting with different materials and techniques, including linography, in many different themes,” she echoes. “In 2023, Evi Van den Plas founded her studio Art et Vie. She graduated as an orthopedic technician, learning the trade of sculpting lifelike silicone finger, hand and foot prostheses for people after amputation. She makes sculptures out of plaster.” (bvdl)
