Artists embrace Valentine’s Day during ‘Art is in the Air’ at Anita Fleerackers’ home

Gierle – During Valentine’s Day, the works of Jimmy Groen, Anita Fleerackers and John John Hoelen take center stage in Anita Fleerackers’ gallery at Hemeldonk in Gierle (Lille). With Trashy Love, John John Hoelen presents a series of nine works made from discarded materials.
Anita Fleerackers has just returned from Toulouse, France, where she participated in the ART3F Toulouse exhibition. In her own gallery at Hemeldonk in Gierle, she is exhibiting artworks by Jimmy Groen, John John Hoelen and herself until Sunday, Feb. 16, during Art in the Air .
Recycle artist John John Hoelen will unveil the gallery’s art collection Trashy Love, a series of nine unique works created from discarded materials. “Trashy Love is more than an art collection, it is an ode to transformation and the hidden beauty in the everyday,” explains John John Hoelen. “Each piece tells a story of love and renewed value, reminding us that even the most forgotten and neglected objects can have a second life as something beautiful and meaningful. With this collection, I challenge our view of waste and want to inspire a deeper appreciation for the potential that lies in what we throw away. Love, like art, shows up where you don’t expect it.”
In turn, Jimmy Groen works with different media. The artist especially throws it on the sensitive and emotional side. “My new works are mainly cats purring and waiting for a hug,” Anita Fleerackers says. “There are also Love and Baby Love, candle holders especially for Valentine’s Day. Of course I present a wide range of horses, Toros and digiArt.”
Art is in the Air is open from Friday, Feb. 14 through Sunday, Feb. 16, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. each time. (bvdl)
